In light of the green movement seen in the US and across the world, cork has become an exceedingly more popular material to be utilized in people’s homes. Cork is one of the most widely used natural materials in the world. Cork is used to make everything from bulletin boards, wine corks and of course flooring. Cork is actually taken from the bark of the Cork Oak tree. This is done about once every nine years. The process is completed without harming the tree in any way and actually harvesting cork encourages more growth. It is fairly recent that homeowners and contractors have turned to cork for their flooring needs however and some may still be surprised to learn just how well cork could fit into their homes.
